Hi everyone! Sorry the blogs have not made more of an appearance from me this past semester…I get a big fail for that…
So an update on my life! Currently, I am in Ohio, working at an outdoor drama called Trumpet in the Land. We do three shows throughout the entire summer, two historical shows, Trumpet in the Land and The White Savage, and then one jukebox musical at the end of the summer called Happy Days. It’s a totally different experience for me, since I have never done outdoor drama, or done a historical show before! I have to wear this make-up called Texas Dirt, to make myself look like an Indian…which many of us find slightly offensive, but the story we’re telling is a good one, so we got over it. The Ohio weather is a bit insane, we’ve already had to cancel many shows and had two tornado warnings, but that’s fine and the people here are great!! Below is the stageJ
I ended last semester well, with good grades, a start on my Communications minor, and doing two shows. The first was Kiss Me, Kate, where I was just a dancer, but it was so much fun, and it was on the brand new mainstage, which was exciting! The second show was wayyyyy different. It was called Bright Lights, Big City, and I played a 14-year-old drugged out prostitute in the 80s. Yah. I know right. It was a very crazy show but also a lot of fun. Kind of glad my parents didn’t come see it though!!!
Also found out in May that my parents are moving to Perth, Australia, so the past month or so I have moved my stuff out of my house, driven it up to Virginia, said goodbye to my home in Texas, and my parents are now living over there. I can’t wait to go visit in December!!
This past weekend, I attended my best dancer friend from childhood’s wedding in Tomball. It was interesting, a Catholic Country wedding with a lot of drama and tension. But I was MOH, so being a part of the bridal party was soooooo much fun!! I had a blast, and Brittani looked beautiful. I can’t believe Tori Pate is now getting married too…it’s crazy! We’re all growing up! My brother just graduated too! He still seems like my little brother to me, but he’s 18 now…again crazy….
Soooo I also now have a boyfriend, Joel, who I’ve been dating for the past 6ish months. I met him at JMU as a retuning senior, having spent two years in California studying physical theatre before coming back to finish his bachelors. He is a Musical Theatre major as well, but now he’s kind of switched to the straight theatre side. But now he has a job as a dueling pianist at a bar called Howl at the Moon, where he sings and played a bunch of pop songs with another pianist or a band. He’s really great, and we’re doing really well, except long-distance is very difficult. Hopefully we can push through! He’s in Baltimore right now training, but soon will move over to Louisville, Kentucky.
That’s basically the quick update on my life right now! I miss all of you guys a lot, and I hope to see you all soon, somewhere! Good luck with everything and love you!!!
